Frequently Asked Questions

Why is automated processing important?

Human subjectivity and speed are limiting factors. With humans conducting cosmetic grading and functional testing, variability is unavoidable. In-depth analysis shows that manual testing assigns an inaccurate cosmetic grade roughly half of the time.

Automation, backed by human skills and insight, brings objective, accurate, and repeatable data to guide secondary device choices.

How large is the compact RSA unit?

The unit is designed to fit standard doorways, allowing for easy deployment, and bringing automation capabilities to more locations and facilities.

How many operators are required to operate RSA?

Each single unit or combined line requires two operators–one for device ingress and one for device egress.

What is the units per hour (UPH) expectation for RSA?

Generally, expectations for a single RSA unit are 30+ devices per hour. There is variability based on device types, device mix, and testing configuration. Multiple RSA units can also be daisy-chained together to match your specific UPH targets. The full automation line is available for large-scale operations.

What devices can the RSA process?

RSA offers broad compatibility and can seamlessly process iOS and Android smartphones, tablets, and even the latest foldable devices—all within a single system.

Can the system handle iOS and Android devices without reconfiguration?

Yes, RSA can support the full device mix, including different operating systems and form factors, without reconfiguration. Devices can be introduced and processed at random without pausing for specialized configuration.

What processes are fully automated?

RSA is fully automated from initial device ingress through functional testing, cosmetic grading, data erasure, and device egress from the unit when complete. The specific automated testing sequence can be tailored to match your business, device types, and operational needs.

How do I prepare devices for automation?

Apkudo automation technology operates via a testing app on the device. Installation and launch of the application can be fulfilled with Apkudo’s Receiving Station prior to the device entering automation equipment.

The Receiving Station supports a standardized intake process with data upload to the Apkudo Platform and optional integration into any additional operational software. The station also supports shipping package validation, logging each device as it arrives, ensuring accurate inventory tracking, labeling, and chain-of-custody records for all devices.
